Profile

Born in Tokyo in 1969. After graduating from the Architecture department of Tokyo University of the Arts, Prof. Kishi received a Master of Architecture degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art (Michigan, USA). He then taught in experimental design studios at multiple educational institutions in Singapore before returning to Japan in 1999.

Since 2003, Prof. Kishi has been sponsoring ‘LWL (Lab for the Wonderlandscape)’, an organization which carries out activities blending the fields of architecture, design and art. Recently he has also been involved in research and art activities focused on processes of change in developing cities, with particular attention to Surabaya in Indonesia. Surabaya also serves as the headquarters of Orange House Studio (OHS), an urban studies organization of which he is currently co-director.
